Know Your Rights

As part of the work agenda, Wind of the Spirit has achieved recognition for educating immigrants about their rights and responsibilities living in the United States. Not only do immigrants have the right to move, but they contribute to the economy and culture, but also the recognition of their responsibilities is a fundamental task.

Right to mobility

Wind of the Spirit considers human rights a priority, placing greater emphasis on inclusion and support for immigrant communities and cross-border migration. Migration happens because of the inequities and injustices that pervade the world. WotS believes that human beings have the right to mobility, therefore, migration must be approached from a more just and humane perspective, supporting different state and federal campaigns that seek immediate protection and solutions for immigrants, and a broader path to citizenship.

Housing Rights

Townhall Dover Housing

Immigrant communities are vulnerable to different situations, such as: expensive rents and housing difficulties. Therefore, Wind of the Spirit educates the community about housing rights, rent control, and seeking justice for conditions, situations, and events that threaten their rights as tenants and their right to a home.

Immigration Reform

HPIM1874

As part of the pro-immigrant movement, Wind of the Spirit advocates for equity and political participation through education and community organizing for accountability, legal and political empowerment. WotS supports state and federal campaigns by forming committees in each town, which participate in county meetings, educate their legislators, and keep up to date on their rights and responsibilities and immigration policies.

Some members of the community are working class immigrants, such as: domestic workers, construction workers, among other areas of employment, who firmly believe that a better world is possible for immigrants.
