Wind of the Spirit is a faith-based organization. We are an immigrant group with a history of over 20 years of struggle to promote the rights of the immigrant community in New Jersey. We organize through a collective of immigrant workers.

Our organization has been recognized and awarded nationally for the impact and work we reflect in our community, and the accomplishments we have achieved for the immigrant community in New Jersey over the years. Currently, our struggles are advancing in campaigns that seek the protection of the rights we have as immigrants and human beings.

Wind of the Spirit works to support people whose health and safety may be affected by the working conditions in which they find themselves.

Human Rights and Justice for Immigrants

Wind of the Spirit has dedicated years of work to promote civic and democratic engagement in our communities focused on human, labor, constitutional rights and immigrant justice.

Climate Justice

Wind of the Spirit is firmly committed to protecting the rights of immigrants within the framework of climate justice, advocating for the rights of those individuals and communities that have been severely impacted by the climate crisis,

Our Mission

Wind of the Spirit is an immigrant resource center with 24 years of experience in New Jersey. Our mission is to educate, organize and mobilize the immigrant community and its allies for a just and dignified immigration policy within the framework of human rights. Our organization is composed of people of faith directly impacted by the phenomenon of migration, therefore, we promote solidarity and peace, recognizing our duties and rights.

Diana Mejia, founder of Wind of the Spirit, an Immigrant Resource Center, received the Josephine Ho Award for Non-Profit Entrepreneurship.

Russ Berrie Making a Difference Award 2022

Diana Mejia, founder of Wind of the Spirit, was recognized as a 2022 Russ Berrie Making a Difference Award Honoree for her tireless work in the fight for immigrant justice.

Joining WotS implies that you formally agree with Wind of the Spirit’s platform of fighting for just and humane immigration policies within the framework of Human Rights; promoting equity and peace and contributing $36.50 per year.

Volunteering

You can support our movement in many ways. Attending events, making posters for demonstrations, signing and sharing petitions, working for hours or shifts at our headquarters or joining a campaign or committee, and many other types of actions are welcome. Volunteer work is also a contribution to our struggle.
